Trail Service Project Opportunities TORC is the Triangle Off-Road Cycling group that maintains the trails at Lake Crabtree. I will be at the workdays which typically runs 3 to 3.5 hours. Scouts/volunteers are encouraged to bring work gloves and water. TORC and Lake Crabtree provide the tools. Work involved varies but can include: trimming branches back from the trails, rerouting the trails to solve erosion problems, building new trails, building bridges over chronically wet trails and building new features on the trails. The trails at LCCP are built and maintained by the mountain biking community but they are open to walkers, hikers and runners as well. If you are interested in participating in the upcoming dates, contact Jeff Hoffert. We meet at the maintenance shed which is the first left after you enter the park from Aviation Parkway, just after the gravel parking lot entrances.
Jeff Hoffert, Troop 208 Charter Organization Representative Parents -- Did you know your volunteer hours could earn our Scouts MONEY? Ask or inquire if your employer recognizes and supports employees involved in community programs such as scouting. Many area businesses do! Check with your Human Resources or Corporate Communications departments. Typically it is a very simple process that usually requires no more than completing a short application! Some companies will even allow a spouse to contribute volunteer hours in the employee's name! If you are successful, please contact Henry Steiner 363-4143 for questions concerning the application. |
