So, you are a parent of a Troop 208 Boy Scout!

TO: New Parents

FROM: The Scout Master, Troop 208

SUBJECT: Introduction to Troop 208

As a parent, you want your son to grow up to be a person of worth, a self-reliant, dependable, and caring individual. Scouting has these same goals in mind for him. Since 1910 we've been weaving lifetime values into fun and educational activities designed to assist parents in strengthening character, developing good citizenship, and enhancing physical fitness and building self-esteem and ethical values in youth.

Instilling values in young people and preparing them to make ethical choices throughout their lifetime is the mission of the Boy Scouts of America. Troop 208 is committed to a program that can help your son learn, grow and mature while he is having fun. We offer activities in which your son will gain character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.

With all the negative influences in today's society, Scouting provides your son with a positive peer group and a program that is fun and adventurous and helps him to "be prepared" to shape his own future.

Scouting is fun! But it is fun with a purpose. This booklet outlines helpful information that you and your son will need. Please take a moment to read through the material, additionally we ask that you pay attention to the forms that need to be completed. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to call me or one of the adult leaders in the troop. You will find a contact roster located on our web site under Troop Login.

Yours in Scouting
